Cantera Fire Opal Sterling Silver Pendant

Perfect for stocking stuffers, great gifts for the holidays! This Opal pendant is absolutely stunning! This is a Mexican fire opal, also called "Cantera Opal". It is wire wrapped intricately in 925 sterling silver wire. The bail is weaved intricately and flows down and around this opal stone. It is held neat and tightly firm in place. I enjoyed every weaving moment of creating this crystal necklace pendant! You can see both the front and the back nice and clearly. The design is very unique yet simple and intricate. Cantera opal is found in Mexico in rhyolite host rock. It is difficult to remove the opal from the rhyolite without damage. So, some gem cutters simply cut a cabochon of rhyolite with a fire opal window in the dome. Cabochon with this style of cutting are known as Mexican Fire Opal. It is a volcanic mineral. This opal has beautiful bright greens and many other colors when you move it around, you can see the colorful shimmer. This would be a great gift for you, your friends and loved ones.
